The History
Now founder and acting head of the three Kantha Bopha Hospitals, I was working in Kantha Bopha I in Phnom Penh in 1974/75 until the Khmer Rouge entered the town.
At this time Kantha Bopha was a small Hospital of 60 beds.

In 1991 His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk and the then acting government have asked me to restore and run this Kantha Bopha Hospital.

In September 1992, the restored and newly equipped Kantha Bopha I Hospital was inaugurated by His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk.

The Hospital soon becomes bigger and bigger, since the health situation of the children and the poverty of the families is turning out to bee much worse than expected.

1993: Additional surgical department

1994: Adidtional wings for intensive care, blood bank, neonatology and laboratories

1996: Inauguration of the Kantha Bopha II Hospital in Phnom Penh by His Majesty the King Norodom Sihanouk and the President of the Swiss Confederation Pascal Delamuraz.

1999: Inauguration of the Jayavarman VII Hospital in Siem Reaop Angkor (Kantha Bopha III) in Siem Reap Angkor by His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk and the Prime Minister Samdrech Hun Sen.

2000: Inauguration of the new surgical Department of the Jayavarman VII Hospital by the Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen.
